Interoperability Program
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss current issues and plan future work. Of most importance, we will be transitioning to a new team structure as the overall NBIMS committee moves to the buildingSMART Alliance. In light of this, Pat Suermann will be stepping down as the NBIMS Testing Team Leader, and we will be soliciting for a new Leader who has the following skills:
Description: Discuss agenda items as seen below and brainstorm about the new direction and leadership of the team as we transition to the IP (Interoperability Program Team).
- Strong Leadership skills for volunteer organizations
- Consensus Building Mentality
- Strong knowledge of IT architecture as well as traditional AECO principles
- Time and vision to be successful
We must discuss who we want to be our new leader. We will gladly accept other current committee members or leading industry professionals who can take on this challenge as nominations from themselves or the team. Thank you!

- GC has mastered the approach to testing interoperability and our team will base our operations on methods similar to theirs.

Excerpt from Alan Edgar, NBIMS Chair:
The primary purpose of Interoperability Program (IP) is to provide a rapid, hands-on, collaborative engineering environment for bringing candidate standards forward for TC consideration.The IP addresses one or more of the following objectives:
1.Produce and test candidate implementation specifications for building information interoperability;
2.Perform research on the use of other information and technology standards for relevance and ability to help solve building information interoperability problems;
- Develop and test prototype interoperable infrastructures based on existing and new specifications;
- Demonstrate the work performed during a given initiative.
The IP shall have a Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary appointed by the Planning Committee.
