How to create a new page on BIMwiki:
- Navigate to the area you want the page to reside. For example, if you want to create a page under About BIM, then go there first. IMPORTANT NOTE: The new page you create will be a subpage of the current page you are currently viewing when you create the new page. So, if you create a new page "ABC" while you are viewing this page, the page would be located at About BIM Wiki > How To Create a New Page > ABC.
- Once there, click on the "New Page" button in the header above.
- A new page will open with a title of "Page Title" and text that states "This page has no content. Enrich BIM Wiki by contributing." Also, you will now see an editing panel with formatting and save/cancel buttons. Here is an example image of what you'll see.
- Remove the text "Page Title" and put in the name that you would like the page to be. For example, "My New Page" (without the quotes).
- Replace the "This page has no content..." text with the text you want to display on the page.
- Make sure to use styles for section headers as this will enable many automatic features like automatic table of contents generation and search indexing capabilities.
- Images and links can be added by the icons in the editing toolbar to the far right. "L" icon is for links, the mountain icon is for pictures, film icon is for movies, the page icon is for page templates, the spoked wheel icon is for wiki macros, and the table icons are for...you guessed it, tables!
- IMPORTANT NOTE: Cutting and pasting formatted text is typically a mess (which is addressed in the next version of the wiki). The best way to copy/paste content is to first copy it into a text file (to remove the formatting) and THEN pasting it into the wiki and applying styles from the Style pulltown.
- Click the "Save" button and you will now see your new page as a subpage to the original page you were on.
- The page address will match the page title you chose.
- Voila...you have a new page!
