About BIM Wiki

Here are some tips on getting started with this wiki:

Contribute content

Collaborate

A browser and an internet connection is all you need to start adding content to BIM Wiki. Share ideas and plans through the simple interface. Click the "Edit Page" and "New page" buttons on each page to begin contributing content.

Share media

Attach photos, files, and all sorts of media to any page to share with your community. Files and images are revisioned, just like pages, so you'll always be able to retrieve older files.

Track changes

Did somebody make a change to a page that was inaccurate or out of date? Use the revert feature to change the contents of a page back to an older version. You'll never lose any work in BIM Wiki and you'll always know what changed, when, and who made the change.

About

BIM Wiki is a wiki platform (and an advanced one at that...). If that doesn't mean anything to you, take a look at the video above. It describes in simple terms the general concept of a wiki, and examples of how wikis can assist communities with information development and exchange.

Wikis are commonly a more efficient method of communicating than email as it provides a "pull" rather than "push" format of information exchange. "Push" in this sense refers to email distribution lists (can you say email overload!!), whereas "pull" refers to being a hub of information that people can go to find the latest information on an as-needed basis.

All changes are automatically tracked by the wiki. To view all of the edits for a page, in the far upper right corner is a "page last modified" link. To view recent changes on any page in the entire site, see "Recent Changes" all the way on the top.

The "wiki way" is that anybody with permissions can edit the page and review the changes. This, in effect, creates a dialogue rather than tons of emails. Yes, if you are registered, you can even edit the content in this section content on how to use BIM Wiki!

Take a moment and click on one of the links below and add a new page or take a moment to review and improve or even just comment (at the bottom) on the existing content.

The "wiki" way encourages maximum participation and information exchange. Content history is monitored by the community so all changes are essentially vetted by the community...the definition of true collaboration!
